Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

I am a happy woman on 22 September 2010.

I have a happy Mid-Autumn Festival - a 3000 year old holiday in East Asian Culture.
A holiday originally celebrated the moon and ended the summer harvest season.
This day is also best known as a time for family and friends to gather together and be merry, supposedly to eat mooncake, drink tea and appreciate the moon....
I had a good sumptuous dinner (prepared by the dearest mummy) & gathered with the family.
Though we did not eat mooncake, drink tea or appreciate the moon ...

I nearly jumped over the moon!
I received (in advance) my birthday prezie cum our 14th wedding anniversary gift cum prezies for any other festivals in 2010!

The Power of Glamy Mum

The glamy mum's hair is growing out of shape.
And once glamy mum's hair is out of shape, glamy mum will feel very pek chek.
And once glam mum is pek chek, everyone else will not have good days.
Muah..haha...the Power of Glamy Mum!!!
Hence everyone else will urge glamy mum to go for monthly maintenance such as mani, pedi, hair treatment, shopping therapy....anything that will have Glamy Mum smiling again!

SELF Parenting Talk

The hubby and me attended a SELF Parenting Talk at girl's school on 26 August 2010.

SELF = Sensitize, Experience, Learn and Feel
It is organized jointed by the school and Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centre.
The social workers will spend 2 weeks with 1 Secondary One class teaching them about self discovery, communicating with others, labelling, differentiating good and bad friends etc. In short, about youth development.

What I learnt myself...
The 5 Stages of Youth Development

1. Physical Changes.
Where teenagers are sensitive to comments.
Where they have developed the whole range of emotions but the rational thinking is not developed yet.
Only by the age of 25 is rational thinking fully developed.

2. Cognitive Development
3. Emotional Development
4. Moral Development

5. Social Development
Where friends are the most important in their lives at this moment.

After the talk, the students also organized songs, play and an exhibition for the parents.
Though the boys are rowdy, noisy and still noisy but I thought this is the stage where every teenager has to go through.

I am very happy to see girl writing this about herself.

"I love and respect myself."

So girl, if you are reading this post - Mummy is very proud of you!

The degree you love yourself is the degree you'll be able to love others.
